The Scripps National Spelling Bee program begins at the school level. Schools enroll with the Bee and schools receive study materials and program guidelines to conduct their own spelling bee competitions and to determine their school spelling champion.

2024-2025 Program

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 program year will open in August 2024. Enrollment fees, benefits and other details will be made available when enrollment opens.

eligibility

Schools with students in grades 1-8 who are under 15 years of age and who have not passed beyond grade 8 are eligible to enroll in the program. Schools outside the U.S. may also be eligible to enroll. Homeschools with students in the eligible grade/age range are also eligible.

Students above grade 8 or who will turn 15 on or before August 31 of the year of the next National Finals are not eligible to compete at any level of the competition.

Once enrollment opens for the 2024-2025 program, you will be able to search for your regional spelling bee sponsor during the enrollment process. If you don't have a regional spelling bee sponsor in your area, your school may still be able to participate through our RSVBee program.
